All About Scented Soy Candles

6 Steps To Follow In Making Scented Soy Candles

With the proper guidance and instruction, together of course with the right materials, it is not that difficult to learn the craft of making scented soy candles. If you already have some basic knowledge in making wax candles then it will be a lot easier for you.

The wax used to make soy candles comes from soy beans and this can if preferred be mixed with paraffin wax and paraffin wax blends to formulate a more adaptable mixture. However, to make a natural soy wax candle it will be necessary to use 100% soy wax or 100% soy wax blends with no additives.

The wax used to create soy candles is very firm and because soy generates very little smoke it is therefore an excellent, natural clean burning candle.

Making scented soy candles in your home can be done relatively cheaply and is simply a matter of mixing the desired fragrances and essential oils to create the aroma you are looking for.

Scented soy candles also make an ideal gift or present for your friends or family and can be made in a number of different sizes, shapes, colors and fragrances.

The 6 steps to follow -

1. Buy a block of soy wax or bag of wax flakes from your local craft or candle shop.

2. Have on hand dry cotton wicks, scent, a mold and a selection of
colors.

3. Melt your wax either in an old pot on the stove or in a container in the
microwave.

4. After the wax has melted add mix in the choice of color and the
preferred fragrance you want to use.

5. Carefully position and centre the wick inside the mold (before poring) then
pour the melted mixture in and leave to set.

6. When properly set remove the candle carefully from the mold.

A natural scented soy wax candle made with your own hands, gift wrapped and tied with a nice ribbon tie, can be given to someone special as the perfect gift.

Soy wax candles are biodegradable since they are made from hydrogenated soybean oil. When compared to paraffin wax candles they project less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere because they produce very low amounts of soot. The soybean oil assists in lowering the melting point that results in more even burning. As a result this low heating wax is ideal for making scented soy wax candles since the lower heat helps to distribute more fragrance.
